How To Make Money ... Using your hobby, a home computer and the internet.

No matter what your hobby is, you can make money with it on the internet. All you have to do is share all of the information you know about your hobby on a website. If you have good information to share, information that others are interested in, it will work!

Google has an advertising program called "Adsense for Content". Through this program you can display ads on your information website that are related to the subject matter you write about. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to generate revenues, and it can be wonderful for your visitors to your website by helping them with good information and relevant products and services.

Keys To Success

The first thing you need is good original content to share with your intended audience. You don't have to be a professional writer. Write about your hobby and share everything you know. Use a spell checker and do the best you can with grammar. Readers will be indulgent as long as you are imparting helpful and useful information.

Once you have committed to the project, write ten to twenty pages about your hobby and get friends and family to proof read your work before you publish it on the internet.

After you have written ten to twenty pages of good original content, had friends and family review it for you, you will be ready to create a website and publish your information. If you think the task of setting up a website is too much to handle, seek assistance. For a relatively small investment you can get someone to do this for you.

Setting up a website is actually not as complicated as it might seem. Whether you undertake the project on your own or hire someone, get your website off and running with the ten to twenty pages of information mentioned earlier. As time goes by, you can add more and more pages to your website.

If you develop good original content, everything else will come with time. People are constantly looking for information and they will find your website. The more people that find your information useful, the more visitors you will attract. The more visitors you attract, the more revenues you will generate from the advertising on your website.

There are some things you can do to help insure that people can find your website. Use good descriptions about your website and the content it has, in the meta tags of your pages. Then submit your website to the search engines. Concentrate on the content and attracting visitors first, you can work on the details of the Google Adsense for Content program later.

What Can I Expect

Briefly, I will tell you as much as I can about how I developed a regular monthly income from my home computer, my hobbies and the internet. I stumbled upon Google's Adsense Program in 2006. I was interested in generating extra revenues, but unfortunately did not pursue my little project with much vigor. Looking back on it, I wasted and lost an entire year.

I placed a few ads on my website and kind of forgot about it. I think I may have checked in a few times to see if the ads were generating  any revenue and in the beginning it was very small. A few months later I received a check in the mail from Google. At first I thought it was some kind of mistake, then I remembered that I had signed up for this program with the sole purpose of getting a check from Google. That first check got my attention!

When I got that first check it convinced me that the program was worth more effort on my part. I went to work by reading and learning what I could do to increase my income within the program. Throughout 2007, my second year in the program I worked as time permitted to improve my participation in the Adsense program. I went from getting a check every other month, to getting a check every month. Since that time (August 2007) I've gotten direct deposits every single month!

The more I earned, the harder I worked at making the program successful for me. This was no "get rich quick scheme". I can tell you that I've put a lot of time into it since I created those first few ads four years ago. I used a lot of my spare time that could have been spent doing other things, but it is paying dividends today.

In the beginning, my wife would walk into my office at home and ask what I was I doing on the computer and kind of roll her eyes when I said "working on my Google". She doesn't do that today, because she knows that this little project that started out just as a hobby of a hobby, could turn into a business of it's own.

Your Success Will Be What You Make It

Actually, I was my own worst enemy when it came to being successful making money online. I really did everything totally wrong in the beginning. Despite all of my goof ups, I'm making a regular monthly income now. But I want to reiterate that it has not been a "money for nothing" thing. I have put a lot of time into it and I've incurred expenses as well.

If you have the time to devote and a little money to invest, you can develop a monthly income from the internet in a much shorter time than I did. You can reach a higher level of success as well. All it takes is dedication and perseverance.

My Program Started as Simply a Way to Defray Costs

When I started in the Google Adsense Program, my original goal was to help defray the costs of maintaining a web server, router, T-1 line and power supply. The most expensive part of this equation is the ongoing monthly charges for the T-1 line (approximately $600 per month). Since I already had these things in place for my main business, they represented a necessary expense. But when I realized I could take advantage of them to turn them from an expense only, into a revenue generating profit center, I became very excited.

Because I maintain this equipment at a cost of probably $750 per month (including the T-1 line), my profit is used to pay these expenses first. But you can do the same thing using a host to provide these things at a relatively small cost and make even more than I am. If I had not already had this equipment and a website for my main business, I may never have thought about publishing a website and using Google Adsense to generate revenues.

Some of the best money making ideas came about as a solution to a problem. Take for example artificial turf. When they built the Astro Dome in Houston, they couldn't get grass to grow. Someone cam up with the idea for astro-turf and the rest is history.

I really can't say enough good things about Adsense. It has been a great benefit to me and I believe that it has been a benefit for my website visitors as well.
